Shooting Style
People rarely sit, smile and say cheese, so why would I capture you like that? I’m aiming to capture your most natural expressions, gestures and poses, not a photo with your face on it.
I have a half/half approach to capturing you “naturally”. Fifty percent of the time I’m happy to let you just ‘play’ & interact naturally, and the other fifty percent of the time, guidance
is needed to really make the pictures great.
Everyone does things that are distinctly you and we’ll work together to draw that out.
Above all else- enjoy yourself!
Parents need not stress over getting your baby or child to cooperate during the shoot. Think of me as your nanny for the afternoon. I will happily work with the chaos of your family, chase after a playing child or patiently wait for a mother to feed a newborn. I’m not constrained to time blocks and am much more concerned about getting good photos, which usually happen when everyone’s at ease.
Lighting
Natural & available light is my style. Natural light is simply the light from the sun. I keep a close eye on the weather and sun schedule in the various seasons as sun up or sun down is first prize but I can easily work with just about any situation and time of day. Available light is any light source that happens to be around. That could mean a street lamp, city lights or a car headlight; it all depends on what feel we’re going for.
